The Joy Cowley Collection is easy to incorporate into any current reading program providing shared, guided, and independent reading opportunities for the whole class. In addition to having books with adorable illustrations, appropriate text for reading levels, in the back of each book you have at your fingertips before reading, during reading, and after reading questions to ask the students. Wow, the work is already done for you!
The first book I had the pleasure of reading to my students was Mrs. Wishy Washy and the Big Wash. It is so cute! My students loved how the animals were not always "good at using their listening skills"! This book features punctuation: quotation marks and exclamation marks, rhyming and onomatopoeia, compound words and vocabulary words to introduce and review with your kids.
The second book I shared was Wishy-Washy Clothes. This book is part of The Joy Cowley Early Birds Collection. It is a new series created by Joy Cowley in response to frequent requests from teachers for lower level reading materials. This book features inter-text connection with Mrs. Wishy Washy, Punctuaion: upper lower case letters, periods, quotation marks exclamation marks, challenging sentence patterns and humor! Can you believe all of these skills are featured in this one book? Sure helped me!
