Saturdays are my FAVorite!

I don't know about all of you, but Saturdays are my absolute FAVORITE! Today was a great day and I just love sitting on my deck, enjoying the beautiful weather, with a cold coozie in my hand and listening to some great music! I hope you all have had a great day! My little blog has reached 200 followers and I am thrilled! I will have my giveaway information posted soon. I will have a couple winners to announce so be ready to enter it soon! Summer Skill Packet?

. Teacher Tam has posted information about her Summer Skills Packet for Kindergarten. This looks great! It is a great buy too!  Here is what she says on her site about it: It includes 10 weeks worth of Common Core based math or literacy activities, as well as a game board with 5 different sets of cards (addition, subtraction, CVC words, sight words, & sight word sentences)!!!  Everything can be copied front to back except the game and cards. I am going to go and check this out. It looks like it is just enough to keep the kiddos thinking, but not going to "summer school".  Be sure to go by her TpT store-just click the link!

I'm Sooooo Excited-Friday Eve!

 

Gosh, I hope I am not the only teacher who loves to see Friday come and Sunday night too! I love my job and my kiddos, but let me tell you, I never sit down except to read a story or during sharing time-I'm sure many of you are the same way. Tomorrow we are going on a field trip to a local pizza shop. The students will make their own pizza and then eat it for lunch. Isn't that cool? I teach in a small town and we are fortunate that we live in close proximity to be able to go on walking trips to the library, pizza shop, and the fire department. Our grade level takes several walking trips as a culminating activity for our community helpers unit. I'll be sure to post pictures of my future pizza makers tomorrow or Saturday.

Monday...ONLY Monday?

     Gosh, today felt like it lasted 15 hours! Do you ever have days like that? We are in the midst of assessing our students for the 3rd 9 weeks. It takes so long to do assessments one on one. This time we also have to do a Running Record on the students. To be on grade level, they have to be reading on a level A or B; at the end of the year they have to read at least a level C. What does your county require from your students? 


     We had a great day today..............we decided as a grade level to celebrate St. Patrick's Day today since we had a half day on Thursday and a workday on Friday. Man, the kids were so excited to find the gold nuggets the leprechaun left for them! I did take pictures of the leprechaun traps on Friday.  I also took a picture of the small shoe and hat the leprechaun tends to get caught in two different traps! They love this. He left a note for us to please find his shoe and hat and if we leave them for him, he will leave a surprise treat for us! Guess what he is going to leave? Well the magic powder of course! LOL Check out some of the traps below. I was so proud 20 out of 24 students made a trap! They were all great-of course you always have those that go above and beyond-I love the simple ones just as much and always make a big deal out of all of them! Oh and I have to tell you about Buggy for Second Grade's giveaway....she is going to give away 5 math center games. You leave a comment about what inspires you as a teacher. I loved reading all of the different comments people have left so far. But hurry, it ends Thursday!
