  7. I use a sentence strip hat instead of the premade birthday hats. I write "Happy Birthday ___" and tape pennies on their hat for their age..example 6yo=6 pennies. They love it. They are also the line leader for the day. Easy and simple!

  10. To celebrate student's birthdays, I'm going to do it a little differently this year. I created a special "birthday" tshirt that I got from Vistaprint for free to let students wear on their birthday. Also, I saw the balloon/pixistick idea on What the Teacher Wants and I am going to implement that idea this year, as well.

  11. I love b-day's...my class walks through a b-day cake windsock...I refer to the child as the birthday boy or girl...the parents send a b-day treat and a healthy alternative...we sing happy b-day and God's blessings. We take a picture with their friends...I have vistaprint b-day postcards and goodie bag with a few thematic gifts and a treat of goldfish crackers. We enjoy the day!

  13. I buy those $1 books from Scholastic all year long so I have a good selection. On a student's birthday I give them a birthday pencil and a card and let them choose a book!

  22. On their birthday, the student gets a crown, a birthday sticker, and I read Happy Birthday to You, by Dr. Seuss. I always make sure to insert their name into the story:) At the end of the day, they take home the Birthday Journal. In it, they draw a picture of themselves and write a sentence about what they did on their special day. The next day, they share their journal entry with the class:)
