I am from a small town called Cherryville, North Carolina. Our town has New Year shooters that begin at 12 midnight on January 1 and go around to houses and fire their muskets. It is a German custom that our ancesters continued to do in this small town. It is definitely a LOUD night and believe me, you can hear the shooters all through the night and the next day. I used to enjoy going to watch and following the shooters with my friends. We haven't followed them in quite a while...probably won't go this year either, but it is something that I thought I would share. Click below the picture if you want to learn some more about it.
Happy New Year!
