Happy New Year!

Wow, it is almost time to head on back to school on Wednesday and get into a routine. I am ready for both. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy being lazy and not having to get up at 5:00 am to get ready for work. I hope everyone has a fabulous New Year and that everyone is safe!

I am from a small town called Cherryville, North Carolina. Our town has New Year shooters that begin at 12 midnight on January 1 and go around to houses and fire their muskets. It is a German custom that our ancesters continued to do in this small town. It is definitely a LOUD night and believe me, you can hear the shooters all through the night and the next day. I used to enjoy going to watch and following the shooters with my friends. We haven't followed them in quite a while...probably won't go this year either, but it is something that I thought I would share. Click below the picture if you want to learn some more about it.

Can't Believe 2012 is ALMOST Over!

Wow, I think it is so hard to believe that 2013 will be here before we know it! I have so many things to do and not nearly enough time to do them and that is for sure! I thought I would share my Christmas card I made for my students this year. I have done this for the past 10 years I guess....sounds so old and the families always enjoy having one to share!

For some crazy reason, I wasn't able to save the card to my computer so I could upload it. Well, I guess you can figure that I put our group picture where the puppy picture is. It turned out cute I thought!

Just in case you haven't seen these giveaways....hurry on over:

Holly Bloggy Christmas Exchange!

Merry Christmas! I can hardly believe Christmas is already here! The holiday season has flown by and I am pretty sure I am not the only one who feels this way....maybe? First of all, I want to say a great big thank you to Ms. Preppy and Ms. Shelton for organizing and hosting the Holly Bloggy Christmas Exchange 2012! It was so much fun! If you haven't participated in their exchanges, I just know you would enjoy it as much as I do!

For my Holly Blogger Exchange, my partner was Amy Marshall from The Resource(ful) Room. I could hardly wait to get my goodies ready to mail to Amy...I have so many favorite things so my decision was really difficult, but I finally made some decisions...so without further wait, here is what I decided to send my partner:

In the first picture, I had one of my friends make a framed sign for Amy. I got one of these from one of my sweet students last year for Teacher Appreciation...I loved it hope Amy liked it too. I also included some of my very favorite foaming hand soap from Bath & Body Works! I love the apple scent. In the second picture, I included some holiday napkins...I love to have those out when we have friends over because they always seem to add a bit of color! Finally, since I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Reese's and Chocolate covered marshmallow stuff, I had to add some to her box. I loved participating in the exchange! I hope I helped Amy have a couple surprises to make her Christmas bright and cheery!

Next up, I get to share my sweet goodies I received from my bloggy exchange partner! My partner was Kelly from Beg, Borrow, Steal. I was so excited to open my box and check out what I got....I got a new cup that will be perfect for me! I hate to admit it, but I have already used it and I got so many compliments from my co-workers....they love it and so do I! Kelly also included a gift card to Starbucks...yummy! Can't wait to spend that on some delicious drink for ME! LOL, thank you so much Kelly for the adorable cup! I take one to school with me every single day filled with my favorite drink....Sun-drop!

I'm a GREAT Aunt? Say WHAT???

Are you ready to see a precious miracle?

Introducing......Parks Allen Peak!

Yes, I said that right...I am a Great Aunt? Wow, that makes me feel like I sound so old! My family was blessed with a wonderful early Christmas present. My niece delivered her precious baby boy on Friday, December 21. He is precious. He weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 inches long. We are all thrilled! He arrived 7 days early and we are so happy Meg and Hunter will get to spend an "extra" Christmas with their sweet baby boy!

Since my son is 13, I have loved going shopping for a baby! One of the first things I bought for Parks is Elf on The Shelf! I just couldn't resist giving him his own, although I know it will be a few years before he really "gets into it", I just knew this would be something he would enjoy for many years!

I had my fingers crossed he would make his grand appearance on Wednesday, December 19 since that is my birthday, but no such luck! I just was so happy and wanted to share this precious miracle from God with you all! I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas and I cannot wait to share my gift I got from the Teacher Blogger Exchange and share what I sent to my blogging buddy. I think they are both great!
